A best friend is a person who means the world to you. Sometimes, you want to give them something special, and what is more special than a handmade gift from the heart?
One of my best friends is having her birthday in a few days and I am wanting to come up with something special and memorable for her.
As I work on her gift I am using the internet to help me come up with ideas. I thought I would share with you all of my best finds.
DIY Friend Gift Ideas
1. Friends Picture Collage
I’m digging this picture frame and think it would be such a fun way to memorialize a friendship or relationship that has blossomed through the years.
2. Chill Pills
This idea would be cute to give to a friend who works in the office with you and understands the stress level of your work environment.
It would also be good for a friend whom you know has a stressful job, even if you can’t empathize with them.
3. Matchbox Camera
This is such a fun idea! Simply color a matchbox black, add the white parts and fill the inside with prompt cards for taking photographs.

4. Remind Them Why
This is a great thing to do for the friend that gets stressed out super easy.
I did something similar when I was in eighth grade. I bought a notebook and had my mother’s friends write a letter telling her what she meant to them.
Sometimes it’s the reminder that you mean something that makes the biggest impression!
5. Study Care Package
The story along with the picture: Fatima‘s sister graduated from law school and she made this kit to help her prepare for the bar.
My best friend is a teacher and we need many of the same things! This would be a great care package to liven up a best friend, or sister’s, day!
6. Keep a Notebook
One of my best friends and I did this when we were in high school. I gave the book to her but remember we wrote in it back and forth all the time. We talked about boys mostly – at the time it was this cute boy from work. Now cute boy from work is my husband.
I wish I could get my hands on that book now!
7. Remember When…
‘Open when’ letters are nice to have around when you know your best friend could be going through some heavy emotions. It could work especially well when you move away from them, temporarily or permanently. Just a nice reminder that somebody cares, like much of these other items.
8. Smile
The perfect gift to put at a place of employment or beside your friend’s bed. It’s short and sweet – plus it reminds them that they are stuck with you!
9. Cozy
Have a friend that loves coffee? Check out how to make these cute animal cozies. It will be loved by everyone!

10. Coconut Oil Bath Melts
We all need to get clean and being able to do so with good smelling soap is very nice. Knowing that someone made that soap with you in mind makes it that much sweeter.

11. Ice Cream in a Box
Here’s a gift that I cannot wait to make. I have a waffle cone maker and love making my own marshmallows so many of the ingredients would be homemade!

Although if you are lucky enough, you might have a friend who loves ice cream all year round and can make it for them whenever!

13. Homemade Doormat
The great thing about this one is how much you can play around with it. If your best friend is into Star Wars, do a quote from the movie. If they love cowboys, focus on that.

A couple of months ago some students had a brownie mishap that burnt the bottom of the oven and I needed to get rid of the smell quickly.
I went to my cabinet and grabbed what I could find to make a great smelling potpourri. Within the next forty-five minutes, we went from being stunk out to my room smelling great.

These Christmas plates are so cute they could be used year round. It is easy to make and could be a lot of fun if you get more of your friends involved, making their own.

I loved this post so much that I saved it and plan to make it soon. I write a food blog and feel that this would go well as a prop to show off a final project.

DIY Inspired came up with this gift and, as a coffee lover myself, I got super excited to see it.
Maybe instant coffee is not the way to go with your friend but custom tailor this to meet their needs. Do they have an espresso maker? A favorite type of coffee? See what works best for them.
26. Monogrammed Tumbler
As I said before, if you have a Cricut you are set to go. This is another great gift that you can make with the Cricut machines.
Just purchase a cup and add the monogram or whatever design you want for your cup to your machine and you are ready.
